HipJoint Yoga Studio

HipJoint Studio, offering yoga classes in the Iyengar tradition, opened its doors in 1995. Located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the studio is sunny, spacious and fully equipped with yoga props, including a rope wall.

Iyengar yoga classes are appropriate for students of every age and ability. Students may attend classes appropriate to their experience.

The studio is located at:

281 North 7th Street, #7
betwn' Havemeyer and Meeker Avenues in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Group Classes are held:

Monday Evenings, Level I 7-8:30PM

Wednesday Evenings, Level II, 7:30-9PM

Sunday Mornings, Level II, 10:30AM-12PM

Special Workshops are held the 3rd Saturday of every month, 9-11:30AM, Levels II and up

Class Prices:

Single Drop-In Rate 1 1/2 hrs - 16 dollars

6-Class Series Rate - 84 dollars (to be used up in 2 months)

Saturday Workshops - 25 dollars

Private Classes - 125 dollars / hour

This Saturday, April 19th : FEET FIRST!
As yoga practitioners, we learn very early how the feet form the foundation of our standing poses, and how when the foot is collapsed or distorted, strain and confusion can travel up through the legs into the hips and lower back. We will begin this workshop by reviewing the “Tadasana-Foot”, how to distribute the weight evenly between the “four corners of the feet” (the big-toe mound, little-toe mound, inner and outer heel) all while maintaining a well-lifted arch. Once we have established the basis of our standing poses, we will explore the foot’s role in forward bends, inversions, back-bends and drop-backs, learning how to activate the feet properly in all of these poses.

May 17th: Jump: Surya Namaskar and other Vinyasana Sequences

June 21st: Mind to Balance:Develop the confidence and skill to move your inversions into the center of the room
